Special Session 6: Intelligent Technologies for Maritime Search, Rescue and Salvage Operations (水上救助打捞智能技术)

Maritime search, rescue and salvage operations serve as the last line of defence for safeguarding lives and property at sea and protecting the marine ecological environment. With the sustained prosperity of the global shipping industry and the rapid development of the marine economy, vessel traffic density has been increasing, leading to a corresponding rise in the risk of maritime accidents. Traditional rescue approaches that rely on human divers and manned vessels not only entail high operational risks and limited coverage but also face severe challenges under adverse sea conditions and in deep-sea environments. In recent years, the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, unmanned systems, and underwater robotics has brought revolutionary changes to the field of maritime rescue and salvage. Intelligent equipment such as smart lifebuoys, unmanned surface vehicles, remotely operated vehicles, and autonomous underwater vehicles are gradually becoming the backbone of emergency response. Meanwhile, breakthroughs in core technologies including intelligent planning, autonomous navigation, environmental perception, and target recognition have made unmanned, integrated, and multi-functional maritime emergency systems a reality. This special session aims to bring together cutting-edge research from scholars worldwide in areas such as intelligent rescue equipment development, cooperative unmanned systems, and AI-assisted decision-making, to explore key technologies and future directions for the intelligent transformation of maritime rescue and salvage, and to provide academic support for the modernization of waterborne transportation safety systems in China and beyond.

Related Topics for this Session but not limited to:

  1. ** Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USV) and Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV) for search and rescue operations

** Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV) for deep-sea salvage and submarine rescue
